I am pretty sure my card issues involved the memory on it, how about everyone else? I cant be 100% sure, but I think I even had beep codes for mine.

On my fifth gtx280. The first four all had the pink screen of death. This one is loud as hell and had dust and crap all over it but hasn't had any issues (yet). I asked for a 275 or similar as a replacement after the fourth death but was shot down. They are paying for shipping though.

How did you get them to do that?

the squeaky well gets the most oil. he complained about it.

it sounds like a lot of you guys just keep getting each other's rma'd cards. sounds like fun!

Yep, this was discussed on the eVGA forums. I truly believe we are getting each others RMAs cards because they are not testing them thoroughly enough. I even wrote that testing these in XP versus Vista/7 would make a difference because of the Aero interface. My card was fine for 2D, but the minute (even Aero) anything went to 3D, it would PSOD.

this is just hilarious... they sent me back another 'extra tested' 9800gtx+... the testing seems to have consisted of downclocking the unit to 675mhz (supposed to be 738) on the core and turning the fan up to max as soon as you try to do anything...

now i'm really annoyed...

Lmao this looks like the nvidia forums page ^-^

You nvidia guys sure do have alot of cards that die on you.
Now I dont know if amd has a forum equal to the nvidia one, but my impression overall is that alot more nvidia cards die than the ati/amd ones.

Damn, this gives me a really different picture of what I expected from EVGA in these circumstances. Some of these journies you guys have been down to get a working card replacement is just ridiculous.

4 RMAs for the same card? Damn, some of you are far more patient than I am. After the second one I would probably just cut my losses. I do agree though, having a lifetime warranty is not much good if you have to use it over and over again.

And what is it about video cards that have such a high failure rate? I've definitely seen more video hardware fail that just about anything else, except maybe hard drives when you get a defective batch. Some local vendors offer "product protection" which is basically failure insurance, $30 might get you 3 years no questions asked replacement, might be worth it to some.

I once had a asus motherboard DOA on me.. I had to RMA that, get another and same issue. It was my 3rd motherboard I got that worked for me, no problems since then. I have never RMAed a video card, never had one die on me. I did once have a HDD die on me though... sigh.. ment I had to buy a new one (that was back when IMB had some issue that made their HDDs die at fast rates if they got to hot).

The stuff about the grafics cards dieing seems to be mostly on the nvidia side.

remember those drivers that turn off the fan and the cards died from it? best drivers ever ^-^

I've had two eVGA 8800 GTS in dual SLI forever, no problems whatsoever. I never OC my cards though.
