-Fully modular
-FDB fan
-Slightly smaller dimenstions
-No "eco" mode

After receiving a email from EVGA announcing this, I was actually a little surprised they continued this lineup. They have enjoyed a great partnership with Super Flower with their G2 and G3 lineup, however EVGA hasn't announced who makes the G1+ lineup (FSP made the original G1 lineup).

Pricing seems to start out at $109.99 for the 650w version, so this will be in direct competition with the Corsair RMx and Seasonic Prime lineup. I guess you could really throw EVGA's own G3 lineup in there, and especially the Seasonic Focus Plus lineup based on product naming.

A list of EVGA's current OEM lineup:

Oh! Yet another EVGA
G1,G2,G3,GS,GQ, G+ ...
And AFAIK EVGA works/worked with most of the OEMS:
  • HEC (BQ)
  • HEC (W1, B1,BV)
  • FSP (G1, GQ)
  • RSY (BT)
  • Seasonic (GS)
  • SuperFlower (B2, B3, G2, G3, P2, T2)

Just curious if anyone has bought one of these units yet, or seen a review.

I can't believe they've been out for over a month, and I still haven't seen one. They are priced as a premium PSU, but I have no idea who the OEM is.

I think the OEM for this lineup is actually Seasonic.

Possibly, as EVGA claims the G1+ has much better performance compared to the original G1 (which was made by FSP).

But since EVGA is such a large competitor to Seasonic now, I'd be surprised if Seasonic would build a new product line for them. They might still make some GS series for them, but it looks like they are out of stock on EVGA's storefront.

EVGA is usually pretty good about getting their products out for reviews, so the lack of any reviews yet has surprised me.

ugh, i can't confirm for sure... another site, in Polish, suggests that it's a refresh platform based on FSP internals

I'll up ya there. I have a Seasonic Ultra Gold that should get me to 2030 with its 12 year warranty. ;)

My poor G3 is "only" guaranteed to 2027. ;)

consider this; i used my Tagan circa 2007 -> 2012. Back in 2007 Tagan was considered the best brand of PSU, "built like a tank". When it went up in actual smoke in 2012 i opened it, and i also read some reviews, and it turns out Tagan wasn't actually made with such great components.
Compare it to the build quality of the G2; i expect it to go well above the 10 years it is rated for. I'm also running it WAY below the rated maximum, at circa half the wattage (and still get 92% efficiency). It might as well be off for all the work it's doing.

Are Evga PSU's any good?? I have never owned a EVGA psu in my life. I am needing a new PSU asap for my new Ryzen 2000 build which needs 2 cpu 8 pin connectors which my current Corsair psu does not.
I was thinking about getting the 750w version of this EVGA g1+ Psu. What do you guys think?
would this be a good psu or no?

It should be a good unit, as it has a 10 year warranty. However, their G3 lineup made by Super Flower should continue to be their best gold unit.

If the G1+ was cheaper than the G3, I'd strongly consider it. However, another well rated unit with a 10 year warranty (and usually priced very aggressively) is the Seasonic Focus Plus (gold and platinum) lineup.

Great, thanks for the quick reply!! So I went ahead and made the purchase for a 750w EVGA G1+ PSU for $119.00. I should be getting by Wed. I did take a look at those G3 PSU's and the bad reviews on newegg quickly put me off from purchasing any G3. Keeping my fingers crossed that the G1+ works out. I think I would literally die if this new psu fried any of my new components.

Looks like you were a day too early. The PSU you bought is now $79.99 after MIR at Newegg.

Figures... its how it always is with my luck. I guess newegg really likes my money huh!! :confused_old:

PSU pricing (and MIR periods) are very volatile. Newegg actually has the Seasonic Prime Ultra 750w cheaper right now than the G1+.

Oh well, as long as you get the PSU, and it works fine, you'll forget the price in a few months. :)

Good to know. I recently purchased a G3 850w for $120.

Finally there is a review out there for this PSU.

http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story2&reid=551

Made by FSP, and gets a 9.2 from JonnyGuru (value is what drags down the score):

Summary

EVGA set out to bring us a new bargain minded really well performing 80 Plus Gold unit capable of continuing their domination of the power supply market. And they did all of those things... except make the unit a real bargain. Make no mistake, this is a fantastic unit. But it's competing with other more fantastic units, including some of EVGA's own. But if this puppy comes up twenty dollars cheaper, or the G3 or Focus Plus Gold is out of stock? Go nuts, power supply fans.

Another review is finally out for this series, and they had some bad results with their unit apparently, and scored it lower than JonnyGuru did:

https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/evga-supernova-650-g1-plus-psu,5661.html

A person could buy a much worse PSU for sure, but I was kind of surprised on the transient times.

I read that review, Amazon had the 650 G1+ for $64.99 a couple of times now, I almost pulled the trigger. It's currently $69. I think I'll wait for something else.

I would to. The EVGA G2/G3 hits in that price range every so often, and so does the Seasonic Focus Plus gold units.
