I know people here always say get evga,

I guess it's because their lifetime warranty, but for me 3 years or lifetime is same, (after 3 years I usually dont care about the card anymore)

now the Gigabyte model comes with the Zalman's VF700 fan that keeps it quite cool, meaning you can overclock it about 20% with no prob, what about Evga, anyone here owns one?

also have anyone heard about Zotac? their card is being sold 20-30$ less and comes factory overclocked.

I just got my EVGA GTS this week! I'm so happy with it! I plan on OC'ing the hell out of it, because their warranty doesnt get voided in the process. I also plan on using the Step-Up Program in the next coming months to the 9800 Series. I <3 EVGA Cards!

EDIT - I'm now seeing this is for a GT. ;)

If I were you I would get the Gigabyte. With that Zalman it would be cooler, quieter and it would OC better. Try avoiding the stock cooled 8800GT, because it runs very hot and if you make it cooler it will get very noisy.

i got one a couple of days ago.. I was gonna step up to the 9800 but now I think I will return it...

It ran REALLY hot for a few hours and then fried. At stock speeds.

I could not get riva tuners to up the fan speed on it. And it was a total pain to get in the case (I had to cram one of my 5 HDDs in the floppy bay, and my case was a mess with its hugeness)

+1 get the eVGA has the best warranty of the bunch plus it offers a step up program.

from what I hear the step up program is slow and cumbersome, it does not allow cross shipping under any circumstance.. you get sub optimal prices... and there is a limited selection and avilability for cards to step up to...

Also the evga lifetime is not really the lifetime of the OWNER... I heared that either XFX or BFG has a transfereable lifetime of OWNER warranty. (rather then lifetime of product, aka 3 years).

PS. if you don't register your evga card within 30 days of original purchase your warranty is reduced to 1 year only. (even if you have the original receipt kept).
