I currently have 650i Ultra (T1) and eVGA just announces the mobo is now available for step-up program.
Since I'm pretty much clueless about the 680 lines myself so I need your helping idea here.
Which 680 mobo would you recommend?
the LT or non LT version, and why?

Not recommendation, but just want to point out differences:

The 680i LT SLI board uses the same PCB as the 680i SLI but with the green color. Northbridge and southbridge are the same (C55XE + MCP55) but some functions are disabled in the LT. The features of the southbridge MCP55 disabled in the LT are the third PCIe x16 slot at x8, one of the two Gb LAN (hence DualNet Technology) and 2 USB 2.0 ports. The other difference is the lack of a passive cooling solution, LED post code display, onboard power and reset buttons and a speaker. BIOS overclocking options are coarser than those of the 680i SLI.

Which is suited for you depends on what features you want and your budget.

So you can SWAP your old 650i with a NEW 680i for FREE?

The step-up program is a form of RMA where you send money and your old component to get a better one at "discount".

If you really want to stick to nVIDIA, then the 680i-A1 is the way to go.

I am going with the 680i-T1 version. The A1 is the full retailed version of T1 e.g. cables, etc.
The current 650i has my ddr-8500 tied up with the stupid limiting vdim of 2.1v max which prevents me to overclock to its full gloriness of 1333mhz.
