EVGA GTX670 Price / SLI

I bought a EVGA GTX670 about 6 months ago I was just thinking about going SLI ... I am surprised to see the card is still over 400 bucks! Is it worth it to go SLI and Do I have to use the same card ? Perhaps I can get a GTX 660 which is about 1/3 the price. What is the performance gain ?

Personally I've never been a fan of SLI. It definitely has its benefits, but you're not going to get double the performance and you have to deal with increased power consumption, extra heat, and lots of issues with games until the drivers get sorted out. Having one card is just so much simpler. If I were you, I'd consider selling the 670 and buying a new GPU, but tbh the 670 is still a pretty solid card.

Also, for SLI you will have the purchase an identical GPU.

No you can not sli different model of cards. You can sli a different brand gtx 670. No a 670 is not worth $400. Buy it used for under $250 or just sell your card and get a gtx 780 or wait to see what AMD releases.

yes the price to sli for the performance is just not worth it. May look at GTX 770. The 780 is over my threshold !

Well if he sold his old one for $250 and bought 2 760's he'd only be paying $250. They are pretty close in speed. That's a heck of a deal.

A 770 is just a rebranded 680 with higher clocks. Might as well just stay put for now. Price drops may be coming in on the 780 soon because of AMD's R9 290x. Also rumors of Nvidia releasing a gtx 770ti in the coming days/weeks to fill the gap between 770 and 780.

Great info thanks...

and lots of issues with games until the drivers get sorted out.

That may have been the case 7 years ago, but not so much now. Nvidia is usually on top of it with their driver profiles anyway.

/And yeah, OP...I'd definitely hold on the SLI for now since the prices in the places you are looking have not adjusted yet.
