Evga gtx 780 vs 970 help

Hey all first time posting. Let me give you a little backstory.

My EVGA gtx 780 had an issue with its fan and i had sent it in for an RMA to get a replacement card. I had liked the 780 alot and was hoping to get the card again. After about two weeks of waiting after i had shipped it i finally today got the package from EVGA. And it contained a Gtx 970 card.

Could somebody tell me if i should be thankful or upset cause with the reviews i keep reading online i cannot decide which card is superior.
 
I'd take that trade every day of the week, and twice on Sunday.

You are probably reading the 'controversy' over the 4GB vs 3.5GB memory issue, that got a lot of people's panties in a wad. In the end it's still a very good card.
