I just got a new EVGA GTX 560 and neither DVI port would work. EVGA processed an RMA but I have to wait a week or two for defective card to reach them and the new one come back (they would not do a cross ship even for a dead on arrival card.)

I bought an EVGA because of the quality it is known to have. Is something like this a fluke (just very bad luck on my part) or has quality gone down? Also, how common of a problem is no DVI working?

Every vendor for either Nvidia/ATI is bound to have failures. Its usually pretty random but it does happen. Its luck of the draw and nothing you can do about it. EVGA is also one of the better known companies for customer service so you still made a good choice...

As far as rarity of this happening, no idea.

why would you RMA a brand new card? just exchange it for a new one from where ever you bought it from. the only DOA card I have ever personally seen was an Evga 7600gs which I immediately exchanged for a 7600gt.

I bought it from EVGA :awe: They actually had a better price than Newegg or anyone else and free shipping. When I called about it, the representative said he would register me and do an RMA automatically and a new card, versus refurbished one, would be sent back but he said he could not cross ship, which I felt was bad customer service treatment since it was a brand new card that never worked.

You've got to pay extra for the cross ship rma service. They probably should of hooked you up anyways. Maybe the little extra cost to buy from amazon would of been worth it. Neweggs getting kinda crappy with their return policy. Amazon doesnt charge return shipping and you can't beat having their prime service.

Doesn't that box need to be unopened?
