eVGA GTX 280 Flashing Bios

Hi, I just purchased an eVGA GTX 280. I heard that you can flash the bios to the same as the superclocked edition and it would be the same as if you bought the superclocked card. IS that true? I downloaded the bios for the SC edition from another site, but how do I flash it. Also, does it void the warranty by doing so? How much gain do you really get between the regular and the SC version? Is it really noticeable?

Thanks

You would be much better off by just overclocking the card through windows with a program like rivatuner.

If you flash the card you have a much higher chance of killing it.

Only real reason to flash cards, IMO, was to softmod older nvidia cards from geforce to quads.

In your secenario the best way to go is using rivatuner. I honestly wouldn't really overclock video cards too much though, generally the cooling solutions are just enough. If you get aftermarket cooling then you can look at getting a good bit more out of the card.

Just use EVGA's precision tuner. You can download it from thier website, and clock it all the way past the FTW clocks. Thats what I do.

Thanks guys. I guess I won't flash the bios then. I'll try the precision tuner if anything.

I flashed my 2 Asus 512MB 8800GTs with an EVGA BIOS for a permanent overclock of 650/1620/950 from the stock 600/1500/900. Everything is stable as the overclock is quite reasonable.
