EVGA GTX 1080 question

I'm looking to buy a GTX 1080 for 4k gaming and I'm considering the EVGA SC ACX3.0. I've heard about the memory overheating issue. My question is if there is any way I can tell if the package is the old version without the thermal pads or new version with thermal pads applied.

Sorry if this question has been asked before, but I googled it and the results are all about how to apply thermal pads to the EVGA cards.

For the record all new EVGA 1080's or any card with the affected coolers should now have all the fixes for all of the problems that were brought up including thermal pads, memory pad contacts and (maybe) the bios update.
