On the rig in my sig ive been having stability problems in multiple games that i chalked up to the fledgling Vista Ultimate 64 bit im running.

However, i recently installed atitool just to check temps and to my suprise, the damn thing is hitting 88C at load. Underclocking the card with ATitool brings it back to stable, but obviously id rather have a card that runs at stock speeds, and not at the boiling point.

The fan doesnt seem to move much air at all, it is spinning very slow and im not sure if its a driver issue failing to read the cards temp and not throttling the fan appropriately, or if the fan is simply dieing.

Isnt there a software mod out there that can force the fan to 100% all the time? Id like to try that and see if the fan speed and airflow increase.

I use nTune, and I've just had a play and none of the fan settings are highlighted, and I have also tried ATi Tool and that also won't let me adjust the GPU fan settings.

I have done some quick googling, Rivatuner v2.0 seems to have fan control abilities so I'll suggest downloading that and giving it a whirl. I'm downloading it as I speak, so I may reply as to whether this line of attack works.

I've also found this if you need any help:

It appears that rivatuner 2.02 does not work with vista64.

Its not in the supported hardware list.

I tried installing it anyway, it told me to disable driver enforcement (which was done the day vista was installed), and run it as administrator. Running it as admin gave the same error.

After installing i got a BSOD and had to uninstall rivatuner. :(
