By cable I assume you mean "card?" That's a good deal and will play any game you throw at it. It pains me that I spent twice as much for this card back in December.

How about some of us that spent almost 2..43 times that much on release lol. It will play every game out there pretty good. The only thing it wont play on very high is crysis, but it will play it on high, depending on the rest of your system. If I had an SLI mb, I would be on that like a fat kid with a doughnut.

What game will an 8800GT not play? It's a great deal on a great card and I affirmed his suspicions. Pull the sand out of your vagina. ;)

You can't just say "an 8800GT will play any game". If an 8800GT will play any game at any setting, then why would anybody ever want to buy a GTX280 or 4870X2? Or run 8800GT SLI?

If he's running an older, slower P4 or using a low resolution monitor, an 8800GT might be overkill. Conversely, if he has a 1920x1200 or higher monitor, an 8800GT might not have enough horsepower.

raisethe3, could you please post your system specifications (CPU type/speed, amount of memory, monitor specs, preferred resolution for gaming and which games you would like to play). But to answer your question regarding the price for an 8800GT, here's an Asus with a nice aftermarket cooler for $100 after MIR with free shipping. It also comes with the game "Alone in the Dark".

stock cooler is not recommended for an 8800GT or a 4850 card.

Many companies use a quality cooler for those cards.

The one Creig linked is the one I Would recommend.

Falsechristian, you do realize that the 9800gt is just a rebadged 8800gt? So how can a 9800gt be faster then a 8800gts 512mb? You're wrong, again.

9600gt is a weaker card.

the 9600gt superclocked has a core clock of 675MHz and the 8800gt 600MHz.

the difference i see is the 8800gt has a lot more stream processors. is this what makes the big difference?

Yes, eventually the 8800GT is gonna have an advantage because of newer shader-heavy games. Many 8800GTs / HD 3870s are falling to around $120. I remember I got mine from BB for $270... Good times.

This one is priced at $114.99, I thought this is too good of a deal to pass up. Should I really get this? Like someone said, on what games I play.

Well here are the games I play, Warcraft 3, Age of Empires 3, EA Sports games (basketball, etc), Crysis (will play since I am on GeFroce 6200 now), Bioshock (same comment as before), Call of Duty 4 (same comment as before). Let me what you guys think.

Thanks

I will post my specs in the signature box. Also, by looking at the ASUS card, not quite a fan of it. Saw the ratings were pretty low. I am going to stick with my preference of any EVGA cards out there. Just want to know if its better to get the 8800GT vs 9600GT vs 9800GT. As many people pointed out, the 8800GT will play just about any game on with almost any resolution. This would quite satisfy me enough, since I have not played any high graphic end games.

Thanks for your assist.

$115 is no longer a bargain or even down right expensive.
You can now get a gtx260 for $178 (go to HOT DEAL forum) for at least twice the performance..
