Hi, I recently purchased an eVGA 8400GS because it was on sale for $15 AR. I usually go for passively cooled cards for the low end, but since it was so cheap I jumped on it. I figured the fan noise would not be bad anyways.
To my dismay, the fan noise is horrible to me. I don't know what DB rating it is, but the noise is extremely annoying and loud. When I removed the power from the fan, the system is very quiet.
My question is, is there a program I can use to lower the fan speed? I tried RivaTuner but that did not work. I am using the latest drivers that was just released so maybe there is a problem there? I might just have to pick up an aftermarket cooler like the Accellero S2 and run it passive. I tried running the stock cooler passive but temps shot up 20-25 degrees C at load (it was around 70-75). Long term I don't think I can run the video card passively cooled with the stock cooler.
