EVGA e-GeForce 9800 GT

Hi everybody!

Rudy Toody blessed me with a GeForce 9800 GT.

I want to put it in a box that has an AMD Phenom II X4 940. The OS is XP Pro - 32 bit.

It is my understanding that I need a cuda library to allow me to use the video card as a cruncher.

I've done some searching, and the more I read, the more I am confused.

Is there anyone out there who can help me?

you want either the developer drivers for XP or the CUDA toolkit...good luck.

Which DC project are you planning to crunch? In many cases, all you have to do is just download the WHQL drivers from Nvidia as CUDA support is built into the driver.

I'm in school, and it has been necessary for me to do some catching up during the weekend.

I plan on installing the video card in the morning.

- The card is installed.
- The driver is installed.
- BOINC is running.
- A PrimeGrid GPU task is being process!! (... very fast!!!)
- Four SIMAP tasks are being processed by the CPU!!

The driver alone was enough. I had to change a couple of things in the BIOS. I would like to discuss this further, but I have a calculus quiz tomorrow, and I'm behind in my work. I'll tell you all about it in a few days.

I can only take a small amount of the credit for setting it up. I spent some time on the phone with Rudy Toody. I could not have done it without his help.

In less than 5 days I have accumulated more than 431,000 points on primegrid. Ninety-four percent of that work has been done by one video card.
