eVGA BIOS flashing

I've been tearing my hair out trying to get a dos prompt at boot. I have no floppy drive, and when I tried to make a bootable CD it went crazy at boot (sparing details).

So...Can I boot to "safe mode with command prompt" with XP, and run the "Non-Floppy Method" for eVGA video BIOS flashing at the prompt, or will I toast my system? Please, please, let it work. Thanks.

lol! I was assuming I could get a command prompt, or even get to safe mode, but when following microsoft's instructions, all I could do was select which device to boot, period. *shoots computer, self*

Ok, I figured the f8 part out (You have to hit it twice). I got to the prompt, but it's IN Windows, so I doubt I can use it to flash the bios.
