EVGA and Arctic Cooling NV5

About 2 months ago, I added an Arctic Cooling NV5 to my EVGA 6800 Limited Edition (Ultra) card. Unfortunately, the EVGA Ultra card takes up two PCI spaces in the back -not allowing the NV5 to vent at all. After trying for 2 months to get them to send me the adapter bracket to allow the NV5 to vent out the back, I decided to remove it and go back to EVga's stock cooler and add a little AS5. MY TEMPS DROPPED 8 DEGREES C!

So, If you have an Evga Ultra card, don't waste your money on the NV5. You'd be better off setting a box fan behind your computer. the NV5 is an absolute P.O.S.

Don't get me wrong, the NV5 is much quieter, but the stock cooling system is a much better cooler.

Has anyone else had similar/better/worse experiences with the NV5?

I just put a NV5 on my EVGA Ultra Extreme yesterday...not problems at all after I found our I have to tighten the screws up until they almost break....My idle temps droped from 56 to 51-51c...and my load temp droped from 75-77c to about 71c under load...

How tight did you tighten the screws ? When I first put it on, my temps were higher then the stock cooler, but I figured out you gotta screw it down real tight !!!

Why didnt you just cut the adapter bracket in half? Of course the temps will suck when the bracket is blocking the vent.

I dont see why you didnt take the original double bracket off !!!??...The NV5 comes with 2 new brackets..one goes on your stock card (its a single slot with 2 DVI slots cut out) and the other is a grill that takes up the 2nd PCI slot...

My NV5 didn't come with the adapter bracket. I e-mailled A.C. at least 5 times and the rep, Stanley, said that one was on it's way. It's been almost two months and still no bracket.

Also, i don't want to cut the exiting bracket. It would be really hard to RMA this thing should it die on me with it cut up with a hacksaw.
