I highly doubt that is anything to be concerned about. A lot of people on newegg have no idea what they are talking about. EVGA is known for responding on there, not just with this card. It's prob just the usual crop of retards giving it bad reviews when something is wrong with their system.

I have the EVGA 9600gt KO. The fan whines a good bit, but otherwise it is flawless.

I had the same problem as all those people in the forums were talking about. Tried every reasonable thing that I could think of and nothing worked, still got the black screen crashes. Just for giggles, I reinstalled D3D, and it worked <shrug>

Ran it through torture tests for hours afterwards without a hiccup, ocd and repeated and still not a hint of a problem. Not sure why, but something somewhere between the ATi board it replaced and the 9600GT running corrupted, by the looks of it, several D3D files.

I ended up returning my 9600gt after some testing because it just didnt play well in my htpc. It didnt run well in my IP35-E either and had horrid PQ for some crazy reason. I didnt have any blackscreen issues but PQ even after a format didnt look right. Switched out the cables and switched PSUs as well. It ran well in my 680I board but that houses SLI GTS's at the moment so I didnt feel so bad.

Man, I wish I'd seen this a few days ago.

I just got an EVA 9600GT KO and I'm having the Black Screen issue :(

It's really wierd. I run through Far Cry as a test, and the exact same spot where you start to get in the water by the hole in the Carrier, the Video just shuts down - you can still hear the Waves though.

I tried reinstalling DX and it made no difference.

I just picked up an Antec EarthWatts 500W yesterday (had to, old one died), so there shouldn't be a power issue.

I reinstalled my 7800GTX and ran through the Far Cry area fine, and on to the next. Heck, the 7800GTX draws more power than this thing's supposed too.

I just got this (9600) thing yesterday, and I've got to RMA it already :(

This bites, I got an EVGA because they're supposed to have a great rep and warranty.

um...if you have a decent 700 watt psu you could run a highly overclocked skulltrail with 2x8800gtx if you wanted to.

from looking at the many posts here and at newegg I think that it's unfair to just use the normal "newegg buyers are stupid" argument. Don't get me wrong, many of them don't have much tech knowledge, but EVGA very rarely has negative publicity on ANYTHING. The smart money says that nvidia screwed these things up with their secret little OC that they're putting on the cards. I feel bad for all the people who bought 9600gt's based upon launch day reviews :(
