eVGA 8800GTS 320MB Boot Issue - graphical glitches

I just recently bought an eVGA GeForce 8800GTS 320MB to replace my GeForce 6800, but I'm having trouble booting into Vista. When I try and boot normally, I receive artifacts on my screen. I thought this was a driver problem and could be fixed by going into Safe Mode. However, when I try and boot into Safe Mode, all I receive is a blank screen, or sometimes, a screen filled with a bunch of artifacts. I'm running on an ASUS P5LD2 motherboard, and I have tried several different BIOS versions but they all render the same result.

Intel P4 550 3.4GHz @ 3.91GHz / 1117MHz FSB
eVGA GeForce 8800GTS 320MB
3GB Samsung DDR2 PC4200 @ 558MHz
2 x Maxtor 250GB SATA RAID0/1 (300GB/80GB)
Ultra X2 550W Modular PSU
Thermaltake BigWater 745 Liquid Cooling System
Windows Vista Ultimate Signature Edition (32-bit)

I agree send it back, but that's with the consideration that you have been able to run any other power hungry (or any other PCIe card) on the board before you got that one.

yes i have. my geforce 6800 works just fine when i have it installed, just not this new card.

Could be the power supply not good enough for the 8800GTS though it 'should' be ok. Could be you might need to raise PCIe freq to 110 Mhz in the bios. If it were me I would just RMA the card though then if you get a replacement back and it does the same thing you know it's somewhere in your hardware configuration.

Got an extra hard drive? Install windows Vista (Or even XP) from scratch and see what happens. The reason I say this is because I see ZERO artifacts in any of the BIOS screens.
Not that this is 100% indicitive of whether or not the card is bad, but it's a place to start.
And I also see your CPU clock is 3.91GHz?????? Maybe back down on the o/c, just for troubleshooting purposes.

My 2 cents.

The first thing I did was set all my overclocks back to default frequences. Also, I just reformatted two weeks ago and installed Forceware 158.22. I haven't updated or put new drivers on at all. I'm just going to follow through with the RMA.
