Im wondering if im better off opting for the GTX over the GT? I mean is it worth the extra 50 or so bucks? Should I wait another month to see if prices drop more? I want to order my computer before new egg removes the "no payments for 12 months" deal at the end of Aug... not sure when that ll come back. Thanks

If it was just between those two choices? Are you looking to upgrade after that once you get cash or keep for a long time?

Long Time=XFX 9800GTX- Faster, Overclock friendly warranty, Double lifetime=more money for resell
Short term=eVGA Lifetime warranty, but most importantyl 90 day step up program.

Have you considered something a little more future-proof?

Like the HD4850 or GTX 260? I know they are a bit more but could end up saving you money in the long run.

If you can't, then I would say the 9800GTX. eVGA is my favorite, but the 9800GTX is an awesome card.

EVgA doesnt have any 9800gtx video cards on newegg however or id go with them. Im looking to keep this card for a very long time and not have to buy a new one. my rig is going to consist of a E8500 4g gskill pc1000 ram 500g hd, and a mobo capable of running everything nicely... which Im not sure what one will be yet. I was thinking about getting the 4850, however evga and xfx dont make those and I would like to have a lifetime warranty on my video card. the GTX 260 is WAY outa my budget too unfortuantly. I "may" get one of those way down the line.. not sure.

Well of course eVGA and XFX don't make them heh, it's an ATI card. But ATI is starting to dominate again.

Sapphire and Powercolor offer some good warranties. I'd look into them.

But if still not convinced, my final answer is the 9800GTX.
