EVGA 7900GTX Fan At 100%

Hey everyone. It seems like everytime I turn on my computer, my EVGA 7900GTX has the fans blasting at 100%. Using nTuner I can manually set the fans at 70% for less noise. However, as soon as I use the automatic fan control setting, the card blasts at 100% all the time.

Is it supposed to be doing this? Is there a better way to have the fan speed automatically adjust to the temperature? Thanks in advance.

Maybe the card is really overheating? Have you blown the dust out of the heatsink/fan? Is your case getting good ventilation?

It's odd that it would just start doing that. Display problems happen; drivers can become corrupted. But AFAIK, fan speed is a hardwired to a sensor BIOS thing that can be over-rode by software like nTuner/Rivatuner.

My 7900GTO likes to blast at full speed too - happened when I upgraded drivers a little while ago for some reason. It keeps turning off auto fan control and going to 100%. You can manually set it back to auto but after next reboot/restart from idle it's back to 100%. Using rivatuner option to go back to auto after idle works sometimes, but not every time. Very irritating - would love to know what would fix it.

Yeah, I've been reading around, and it seems to be a problem with the latest driver versions.

I don't want to have to manually change the fan speed when going from regular PC usage to gaming.

Does anyone know a fix?

No, the card doesn't seem to be overheating (39°C Idle @ 100% fan speed). Probably a driver issue.

BTW, is your TF2 screen name the same as your ATOT username? 🙂 Might have played on a server with you.
