I'm impressed by my 7900GTO; performance is better than my 7800GTX and the card is MUCH quieter.

I would like to get a little more out of the card, however. I'm not looking to push it to the limit; just for a nice, safe, performance boost.

I don't even know what the stock core/memory speeds are. The info screen in PCMark and 3DMark doesn't even show their speeds (0 and 0MHz!) There's no speeds listed in the NVidia control panel, either.

Assuming I use Coolbits, what core/memory speeds would be a nice, safe starting point?

Thanks.

Mine auto dectects at 712/787 but the memory won't run that fast in some games (fine for 3dmk06 but quickly goes wrong in ut2004 doing only 750). I run at 680/720 now.

I haven't even tried overclocking mine yet. I'll play around with mine this afternoon and report back...

Mine is actually "only" running at 680/775... I had it at 690/800 for a while but would artifact after about 45 minutes of FEAR (large tearing issue). Seems to be stable now...

I had mine at 700/800. Stock speeds are 650/650 I think. The memory speed I'm not so sure on. It's close to 650 anyway.

Just to add another for you: I'm running mine at 725/790. I was at 800 on the mem, but mine like to artifact a touch at anything over 800, so I bumped it back for stablility. But after a little vmod, I think this mem could reach at least 900. Maybe 1000 if cooling is adequate. I may try and take the gpu to 800+ as well. We shall see.

Thanks guys. It's strange how none of the utilities I have (3DM/PCMark/SANDRA) or even the NVidia control panel lists the speeds on the card.

Is Coolbits still the preferred OCing utility? I'm not going to try to flash the bios w/a GTX bios...I'd be happy with just a little more.

I just run 650/800 though.

That's not much of a speed increase from stock...what kind of improvements do you see? Diff in 3DM05 score?

Dunno. I didn't bench the difference. In games, the memory increase from 660, or whatever it is, is very noticable.

Mine seems to be one of the few that won't do 700 core, but will do 800+ memory.

Coolbits autodetects much lower-- somethinng like 670/770, but it does 690/840 without any issues.
