Heres my system:

opteron 146@2930 prime stable 10x293
xp90c/56cfm fan
2gb g-skill 2.5-3-3-6
antec sonata/antec 450w psu
Asrock 939dual sata2
evga 7900gt @ stock clocks= 500/1500

The above will superpi 1m in 30 seconds, and is completely stable, (windows will boot at 3040 but isnt stable ). I just played AOE3 yesterday for the first time, and it ran terribly, jumpy, very low fps. But i can play fear, farcry, (64-to-32bit textures version) and bf2 all at full settings 1280x1024. As far as AOE goes, could it be a driver issue? How the hell does that game run bad on my system otherwise? And my 3dmark06 scores, i got 4455

sm2- 1985
sm3-1959
cpu- 1152

My score is comparable to people with processors running in the low 2ghz range... shouldnt i be running in the 5xxx range at least? Just dissapointed, even though it doesnt matter as long as the fps games work well i guess.

your 06 score may well be about right, my SLI 7800GT's (450/1100) get around 5500, so 4500 doesnt look bad at all. but i could be wrong. the cpu does play a role in the 3dmark score now, but how big of a roll i dont know.

as for AOE i dunno.....what settings have you got enabled? do you have HDR enabled? (shouldnt be a problem tho, coz i think both NV and ATI can do AA and AF in that game with HDR)

You can have AA and HDR on for AOE3 but it is SLOW for nvidia hardware, the only way to get nvidia to use those settings is by using a different AA method i believe and it is the very slow one (MSAA??). Turn off AA you the game should run just fine.

I play it at 1920x1200 with max setting, HDR and AF(set max in driver panel) and AA set to 0x and it runs great on my rig.

The only AA nvidia hardware can do with HDR enabled is SSAA. I'm not sure though what AOE3 uses.

Also to OP, that's not a bad score since I only got 4969 when I had my GT @ 588/1760
