Evga 7800gtx ko

Hello all. I was just curious if it is worth it to buy the OC'd version from Evga than the regular 7800GTX?

Last time i tried to overclock my x800 pro with ATI Tools.. it screwed up the gpu pretty bad. It might have been a glitchy card, but either way, i'm really scepticle now of OC'ing my video cards anymore.

So, if i dont have to, i'd rather not overclock it. But, is there much of a performance increase in the OC'd ko version to make it worth the buy? I believe its $579 on Newegg.

If you can find it at a price comparable to the regular GTX, then go for it. If not, then it's not worth the premium.

There is about $100 difference between the KO and the regular eVGA GTX on newegg. It isn't worth it. I stepped up to dual KO's from the regular ones, and there isn't a noticable difference in performance. The fancy cooler is nice looking, but I am not extremely impressed with it's cooling abilities. My cards idle around 60C, and I am replacing the coolers with NV5 Silencers. The main reason have the KO's is because step-up was almost free for me, but if I was to purchase new cards now, I wouldn't bother with the KO.

Is there any place to buy from that you would recommend for the ASUS?

Newegg only lists a refurbished OC'd card for the 7800GTX.

Refurbished would be the last thing in hell i'd buy.

Answer: Yes.

I own one and absolutely love it. Its suprisingly quiet, backed by an excellent company and shreds through games. A+ for this card.

Depends on how much cash you have at your disposal. A mild performance increase for +/- $100 just doesn't seen worth it IMO.
