evga 7800gt price decrease and rebate

I bought a 7800 gt on thursday for $399.00 at newegg. I see it is now $10 less. Will newegg credit me for the price decrease?? lol, i figure its worth a shot.

2nd question: This card comes with a $40 rebate. It says it need to mail the UPC and sales reciept. Which receipt do they want? I printed out the one newegg emailed me, will that be ok? Or do they want the one they send with the actual package?
Does anyone have any tips regarding the rebate? Ive had bad luck in the past with these things.. i never get the cash!
 
Most people never bother with the rebate stuff, that's why it was adopted in the 90's in the first place. It is a marketing gimmick that should have been shut down by the buying public many years ago. The companies that use the [ rebate thang ], bank on the fact that we are like a herd of cattle, and can be lured into any scheme they dream up to sell their products. heh...from what I have seen....they are right. BAwwwwwWWW. Shall we all run to the other side of the field together, or straggle along at our own pace as WE see fit. Most folks belong to the HERD. Sad isn't it.

About your question, I think Newegg has something in their policy that addresses the price change thang. You might want to check it out.
 
I differ with you insofar as the rebates are concerned. Since last year I have been involved in 7 rebates on hard drives...making a long story short, I have numerous 200 gb hard drives ranging in price ($50 to $70 per drive)... I see nothing sad about the price I incurred through rebates, although it did take some patience....
 
it's not about luck. If you just follow the procedures carefully and take time to do your rebates, they will come back. everyone in my family including myself has been sending rebates for at least 10 years and never had a problem getting any of them.

I doubt they'll give you the $10, since it was $399 when you bought it, so you did pay the right price. That they decided to change it after you bought it is out of your hands.

As far as the rebate, I would make a copy of the receipt and send it with the UPC. This way you'll still have your receipt in case the rebate messes up. But I've never had trouble with rebates, and mine have been as high as $200.
 
They're right though, regarding the rebate. I have a Linksys rebate for like $15.00 that I'm supposed to send in that I haven't and I don't know if I will.
 
The sales recept I sent was the invoice from Order History and a copy of the packing list. I got all of my rebates that way with no hassle. There was one for the Raptor, 250GB HDD, SMC router, and I think the vid cards. I made a lot of copies of stuff, but they all came in no problem (about $100 all in all).

Not to be evil, but good luck with that! The State of Ohio had to sue CompUSA for their rebate practices earlier this year. A buddy of mine only got his 'rebate' because he had proof of everything (actually sent the package 'return receipt requested' or what have you) and after 8 months demanded it from the store manager. He hassled the guy all day long until he caved and just gave him a store credit!
