Who in thier right mind right now, would step up from a 7800gtx/256 to a 7800gtx/512?

Evga 7800gtx/512 = retail $699.00 (yes, it's still 699. retail on their site)
Evga step up shipping cost = $10.- 12.
Price I paid for 7800gtx/256 = $459.00

Price to step up = around $250.00 (half the price of a 7900gtx/512) **LMAO** No thanks!

Evga's step up program is very decent but with the arrival of the new ATI cards and the 7900's, it was just bad timing. I will though, continue to purchase EVGA cards :)

I feel sorry for all those people on EBAY trying to quickly dump their 7800gtx/512 cards **LMAO** What a shame.

LMAO!!!! Well don't feel too sorry for them. One person has one on eBay with 3 days left and bidding is already up to 610.00. So, don't you worry bout the ebayers. Someone always buys.

NO WAI!

Either second 7800GT for me, or nothing. My 7800GT is already faster than a 7800GTX (3dmark05 score for 7800GTX = 7800, my 7800GT = 8200). If I get another 7800GT then I'll OC it to the same speed and I'll have about the same speed as 2 7900GT's in SLI. (If I'm not mistaken, the 7900GT is just a tad faster than the 7800GTX, about the same as my overclocked 7800GT).

but then you can always oc the 7900 gt faster and then it pulls away from the 7800gt again

I have 7800GT's in SLI. IMO if you have an SLI setup of this generation (7800's) then IMO, not worth it to upgrade till unified shader architechture (G80), as long as your current setup plays sh!t fine (like mine, everything maxed out, 4x/16x@1280x1024, for me) then It's not worth it, unless you want bigger e-penis ;) :p

It was either 2 new video cards, or a kickass Water cooling system. And I choose the WC system.

My current setup plays most modern games well, but I've gotten tired of SLI's vsync problems and want to switch back to a single card that's at least as fast as both of these GTs across the board.
