Hey folks,

I was thinking about getting this for my brother in law. He currently has a 6800nu AGP. Doesn't unlock. I was hoping to get some feedback on this eVGA7600GS AGP card.
Some people say it's a 6600GT equivalent in performance, and my BOL's card already bests a 6600GT by a very small margin. He likes to o/c a little. Can this 7600GS be pushed higher?
Maybe if we add some ramsinks. Or is it not worth the change from a 6800nu.

Any feedback appreciated. Thanks.

EDIT: And are there any aftermarket coolers that can be used for this 7600GS. I checked Arctic Cooling's site, but nothing for 7600 cards.

Keys, it's a great card.......but....it's only a tiny bit faster than the 6800nu he has. I know because i currently have the 6800nu and i've used the 7600gs PCI-x version (same specs) and it benchmarked maybe 10% higher than the 6800nu. So don't waste time or money on it IMO. The only thing that would be nicer than what he has is a 7800GS, but i wouldn't waste money on that either.

6600gt, 7600gs and 6800nu are all more or less within 5% of each other.

probably not worth the upgrade.

in fact if you can unlock that 6800 NU agp, it'd probably be faster than the 7600gs

Davey and Hans, Thanks. Exactly was I wanted to know. I'll just tell him to stick it out with his 6800nu until he upgrades his entire platform.

For the money it would cost to purchase the 7600GS AGP he could purchase an Asrock Dual SATA II motherboard plus a cheap Skt 939 cpu. He should be able to use his existing ram providing the old system isn't too ancient.

Then he can upgrade to any video card on the market save for the 7950 GX2 (can't use it on these boards) when his budget allows.

The Athlon64 all by itself should give his system a fair bit of extra kick.

Wait for the 7600GT AGP from leadtek coming soon. A 7600GT is roughly fast if not faster than a 6800ultra/X850XT.

AGP 7600GT? Very nice, but it also sounds like it will be expensive. As in over the 200.00 mark because it's AGP.

I think I'll convince my BOL to upgrade to a PCI-e platform in the coming months.
Thanks for all your responses guys.

I saw a screen shot of the 7950GX2 working on a Asrock Dual SATAII board. So, I think it does work.
