Troubleshooting this is kinda hard!

For one, I got the motherboard and cpu on ebay this past week. It was listed as is / not working. It was a 750i mobo, pentium D 925, and 9800GT video card so @$45\free ship I couldn't pass it up.

Anyhow, I want to use it w\ this 5770 I just got. I get no boot though. It gives a 7F error which I read could mean that there's a problem w\ the video card or maybe power going to it.

It does this w\ the 9800GT also.

The system boots w\ a 4670 ( no additional power requirements ) I tried a dedicated pci-e cable, and also a molex to 6 pin pcie.

The psu is a 600w xion... which I'm assuming is working fine. Anybody had issues w\ video cards not working in this particular board?

First clue...
Second would be what BoomerD is telling you...

One thought though did you try both PCIe slots...? Assume you may have tried just the top slot...? But for sure get a PS that is worthy of being called a PS not a POS...:hmm:

Thanks for the replies. I think you are right. I was able to install win 7 with the 4670.

Now that I recall, I think I had tried this psu a long time ago and had a similar issue with another setup. Guess I'll go get a decent psu tomorrow.

Update / Solved

Weird... I picked up a 550w Antec True Power psu. Same problem. The system actually boots to windows, but there's no video.

I switched out the sapphire 5770 vapor-x w\ a saphire 5770 and now it's working fine...no idea why one would be recognized and the other not.

I had the regular 5770 in my wifes system and put the vapor x in and both cards work fine. Problem solved sorta... no idea why one 5770 works and the other doesnt in one mobo.

That was a good deal for that price. I'm still rocking a 750i FTW/Q6700@3.5. Getting tired of gaming and spending 2500 a year on new parts.

Consider yourself lucky you bought someone else's problem and its working well so far for you.

Just sold the 9800GT for $50, so the board + cpu were free! I was only looking up 750i's on ebay to see how much they go for because of a local craigslist ad for $65 for the board.

Here it is in it's current state rocking a 5850 and a 5770, running solid.
