Don't think even the most bias of people could recommend a 750 ti with your 550w Corsair.Perhaps if it was a 300w or low end 400w it may be a good recommendation.

The 750TI is only for people with name-brand OEM prebuilts with little power supplies, or those deeply concerned about power usage.

In your case, Radeon all the way. I love my 270. :)

OP spending above USD 160 and not getting a R9 280 is a bad idea. btw you have a core i3 540 which is a Westmere 32nm dual core with HT. will do quite well in the latest games. even with a R9 280 if you take the games of 2014 you are going to be GPU limited at 1080p when you try to play at the highest possible settings.

you have a good 550w PSU. so no issues with psu. get a R9 280 for less than USD 200. sell the games if you want to cut costs. the 3GB VRAM is necessary at 1080p in the latest games.

Can't think of a single circumstance where the R9 270 wouldn't be the best choice with your setup. Even in the most Nvidia favored games the R9 is so much more powerful I still don't think it would fall behind.
