eVGA 680i Overclocking

Ok, so I've had the system for about a month now. Now that I know everything works, it's time to have some fun with it!

I'm finally playing around with overclocking. I've been overclocking for a few years, but this is my first Intel processor / board, so I'm a little bit confused about some of the settings.

I noticed that the motherboard can either have the memory to automatically overclock with the FSB, link to the FSB and provide dividers, or unlink to the FSB and let me overclock it completely seperate. What is my best option, or does it matter? Would a linked overclock of 1066MHz be exactly the same in (terms of performance) as an unlinked overclock of 1066MHz?

Finally, I was screwing around with the FSB for a while with the memory linked. When the memory hit 900-950MHz, Window's gave me an error before the loading screen that said some sort of Windows configuration file had become corrupt, and I've had to repair Windows with the original CD... odd. Lowering the memory speed let Windows load up normally again. I was able to repeat this multiple times. What causes this, and how do I get by it? Keep in mind, I was NOT running at speeds that would BSOD / crash the computer.

Additionally, what luck have people been getting with E6600 overclocks? What speeds have you reached, and what vcore did you have to use? I'm sitting at 3.15GHz right now on stock voltage, and hoping for 3.4-3.6 or so.

Thanks for the help. 🙂
