adding more RAM ruined the stability of my OC at the settings I was at.

I assume this means it's time to tweak the Northbridge voltage, maybe others too, and not just CPU voltage.

What are the "safe" limits for the other voltage settings where heat is the only danger (i.e. I'm not going to zap-fry any mobo components with too much voltage)?

If it helps any, I'll have the default settings when I get home.

Hello Mr Omen!

I have the same board as you, mine is @3.85 I use 1.4southbridge,1.5 north bridge, stock volts for the mem v2.1, I have a E6750 water cooled/CPU is 1.51 .............. also I'm linked and sinked.
Not sure what your over clock is as the sig says stock?
I can't see where you'd fry anything, unless you over volt the CPU, the rest nope. The board is covered by life time warranty too, unless your a third party. These boards have been known to fry mem but I think those people where overvolting it to start with.
Good luck, let me know what you get.

I *had* a 3ghz overclock. When I upgraded to 4GB RAM from two (still only using two slots), my 3GHz OC was no longer stable. Imma go tweak some stuff now, I guess. Got 45 mins before I need to go to work :p

Tweaked the northbridge/southbridge/FSB voltages up to 1.3 from 1.2, set my FSB to 1333 with my RAM in sync mode, booted into windows and am running Orthos now.

We'll see what greets me when I get home. Hopefully, I'll be greeted with a no-errors Orthos.

Hello Mr. Jax!

What OS are you running, Vista? Reason I ask is there is a patch for the 4gigs, you must first start out with two then goggle the patch. Down load it, run it. Then power down unplug drain power, then insert the remainder of mem into place set defaults in the bios (upon powering up). then redo the first steps. Should be good to go from there.
Not certain but this board may have issues with the 2 gig sticks, you'll have to do a search for it.Link for the EVGA community for you.

Let me know how it goes, I'm not a big fan of orthos. I just run 3D mark 06 to test my over clocks sense thats what I use it for mostly anyways.
Regards!

I lost the stability on XP, but yes, I'm on Vista x64 as well.

I don't trust 3dmark for ANYTHING, so to each their own, I guess.

I understand that as it does cause OS corruption, when over clocked to high. I've had to back up my basic XP install so as not to lose it, finally after loosing it numerous times .
Once you get the patch should be good to go, you can find similar postings @EVGA forum to your situation as well.
Regards!

Wouldn't this be answered more effectively and timely over at the EVGA forums? Just my 2 cents.

Probably, but I prefer AT and I assume the voltages would be about the same for any 680i mobo...
