eVGA 6800gt

I was just curious... I want to buy an eVGA Geforce 6800 GT but i'm concerned about whether my computer specs would be able to handle it. I have an amd 1900xp with 1gig of ram. My rig is kind of old... Do you think I would have any problems running the video card?

It will run it fine, but in some games you will be cpu limited. What video card are you running now ?

I think the only problem you might have would be your power supply, it might need upgrading if it's 300 or in there.. as long as you have a decent PSU, you should be fine.

The only other problem is, when paired with a 1900+ CPU, the 6800GT will not fully be able to shine, if you do not plan on getting a higher end CPU fairly soon, then I'd get a 6600GT instead, as that will be a better match for your CPU. If you are planning on upgrading to a P4/A64 soon, then a 6800GT will be a great upgrade. But also keep in mind that PCIE is the new thing, and having an AGP card might also suck if you plan to buy a PCIE mobo. just a thought.

Yeah, your cpu is a bottleneck, unless your planning to upgrade your cpu, just get a 9800pro or 6600GT, 6800GT is an overkill IMO.

I'm actually using a 9800pro right now, and my psu is 400 watts. I do plan on putting together a better computer though. I want to get an Asus K8V mobo with an a64 3000+.... which i'll eventually put the gt 6800 into.
