as far as i'm aware, nobody really knows exactly how nvidia arrives at their "optimal setting" using coolbits hack. i guess that leads to my second question of does the d/l cool bits do any more than just the registry edit? i know there is alot more to the cool bits file but i have usually just added a coolbits dword with a value of 3.
my "optimal settings" come out at stock 350/1000 with 800 x 600 and a 60 refresh on an older viewsonic a75 monitor, which i usually do keep at 800 x 600 with a 75 referesh rate because i have very poor vision and need the larger desktops etc. i usually run the card at 380/1080, no problem.
so i guess the card factors in the monitor, with, i assume cpu/psu/bios settings etc...?
is there truly a benefit of using the coolbits2 file rather than just a dword edit?
