Ok I have been looking into getting a new mobo to make the step up to 64 bit. The mobo I have in mind has a spec that says:

Expansion slots 1 x AGP8X/4X (1.5V only)

I had never seen this 1.5v thing on AGP documentation before. Is it something new they are doing? Now I did a little research and 1.5v is a AGP 2.0 standard and 0.8 is an AGP 3.0 standard and if you run an 0.8 card in a 1.5 slot then it may or may not work and if it does it will run at the 2.0 spec. Now I just recently got the eVGA 6800GT and I have found out that my current CPU is choking it. So that is why I am upgrading. Now I have heard that some cards are made 1.5v tolerant so it can handle the 1.5v slot.

Now my questions are...If I get this mobo will my card work in it. How will it effect the performance of the card. If I do get the mobo will it hinder me from upgrading to the 7800GS or above if I want to at some point later?

Thank you for your time.

if the card fits into the slot it will work
all cards run at 1.5V nowadays.. for AGP
older cards are 3V as you say , and wont work in 1.5V slots

if you are upgrading go to PCI-E now

Nah I just got this card and I don't want to upgrade to PCI-E just yet. When fall rolls around I will build another system and I will upgrade to PCI-E then. For now I just want to build a good system for the card I have.
