I just bought a EVGA 6800 from Newegg
http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=40&threadid=1688818&enterthread=y

At this present time I'm Running a 'Built by' ATI 9500 Pro on a Soyo Kt400 Dragon Ultra Mobo w/ an XP 2400+

I know Driver-Issues can be Very Trouble-some

How exactly, and in what 'order#', do I uninstall my '9500' then install the '6800' ? By the way my Mobo doesn't have Integrated Graphics available, if that matters.
What 'Exact' Nvidia Driver should I use ?

And one last Question:

Will my PS 'Run' this PC: Aspire X-Dreamer2 Case (w/ 2 fans running & may add one more), Soyo Kt400 Mobo, XP 2400+, EVGA 6800-vanilla, WD CaviarSE 80g 7,200r HD, LiteOn CDRW/DVDRom 52x32x52x, Floppy, Audigy2-value, PCMCIA Controller w/ Verizon PC Card (My internet connection) & an ATI TV Tuner Card ???

I 'Run' a Premier Plus by ATNG Power Supply(PS) 350Watt.

Credentials on PS:
+3.3v=28A +5v=30A +12v=15A +5sb=2.0A Those are AMD minimums, but I'm still uncertain of the Quality of the 'Premier'

Any Suggestions ?

Thank you

What I typically do is download the latest drivers from Nvidia site, first. Create a folder were you can find them later(don't extract them yet.)

Then download Driver Cleaner.

Goto to control panel-->add/remove programs-->remover your ATI driver and restart your system.

When your restart, XP is going to recognize your new video card. Just go ahead and cancel that dialog box.

Run Driver Cleaner and remove anything ATI related-->restart.

Download the video drivers--> restart.

When the computer restarts, it should be in 480x640 resolution. Goto to your desktop -->right mouse click, properties-->settings tab and adjust your screen resolution.

That should just about do it. Have fun!

Thanks a lot for the Reply.

I get a 'Vague' Idea of what your saying. You don't really say when, exactly when, to remove my '9500' & replace it w/ the '6800'. Nor do you say exactly when to Extract the 6800s' Drivers. Please don't get me wrong, i sure appreciate the Help, but i don't quite understand what your saying.

Thanks

Sorry crockman, I should have been more specific. Hopefully these revised step by step instructions will help you out.

Keep your 9500 PRO in at this point

1. What I typically do is download the latest drivers from Nvidia site. XP 78.01 Drivers Create a folder were you can find them later(don't extract them yet.) I usually save them to my desktop.

2. Then download Driver Cleaner and extract Driver Cleaner.

3. Goto to control panel-->add/remove programs-->remover your ATI driver and restart your system.

4. When your restart, XP is going to recognize your VGA card. Just go ahead and cancel that dialog box.

5. Run Driver Cleaner and remove anything ATI related-->when completed,SHUTDOWN YOUR SYSTEM.

THIS WOULD BE A GOOD TIME TO INSTALL YOUR 6800

6. Download your NVIDIA video drivers that you save in your folder earlier--> Once the drivers are installed, restart your system.

When the computer restarts, it should be in a 640x480 resolution. To adjust your resolution -->Goto your desktop-->right mouse click, select properties-->settings tab and adjust your screen resolution.

Thanks a lot for the Installation Sequence. That sequence certainly makes sense. I re-installed XP-Home (clean) about 3 months ago, so I have some experience with 'Video' Drivers installation.

Thanks again for the Help.
