Well you have to figure a few things. No one is selling it for less than $499, and most places you get it for $499 you'll have to pay taxes, like compusa for example; but not at newegg. So it all comes out in the wash really. Plus you get neweg's great service behind it - meaning when they say it's in stock, it's in stock. So anyway, if you wait around for a cheaper version of the ultra to be available, you might be waiting until christmas.
Or you can buy a 6800GT for $340, OC it to Ultra speeds and take the money you save and buy $250 worth of something else.Originally posted by: Ozone1

Lol, I've always thought that Newegg was overrated and this just strengthens my point. It's true that they aren't lower than the MSRP right now, but that price is just way too high. You can get it at or just above MSRP at a lot of places if you look on pricewatch or froogle.

Sure you could do that and then you could wake up the next day to find that your ram will no longer OC to 420, but now is stuck at 390... has happened to quite a number of people on various threads.
@woodscomp
Price not only classifies something as a hot deal; availability can also classify it which is why this deal is in this thread.

Yes, I believe that Newegg is overrated. Sure they offer very good quality products, no one can deny that. But I hate it because a lot of people recommend them for there prices, and I have repeatedly found lower prices elsewhere, non auction based.

Newegg does charge tax for three states and Tennessee is one of them. And at 9% or thereabouts depending on your location, it is cheaper to buy at zipzoomfly or mwave that does not charge tax!!
