Well you have to figure a few things. No one is selling it for less than $499, and most places you get it for $499 you'll have to pay taxes, like compusa for example; but not at newegg. So it all comes out in the wash really. Plus you get neweg's great service behind it - meaning when they say it's in stock, it's in stock. So anyway, if you wait around for a cheaper version of the ultra to be available, you might be waiting until christmas.

Newegg's service is not worth an additional $60 over MSRP+ tax.

Or you can buy a 6800GT for $340, OC it to Ultra speeds and take the money you save and buy $250 worth of something else.

Newegg should at least offer free shipping since they are price gouging on the card already.

Being $89 over MSRP, I just thought it was funny that they were charging for the shipping... you'd think they'd at least say it was qualified for "Free FedEx Saver Shipping...."

Lol, I've always thought that Newegg was overrated and this just strengthens my point. It's true that they aren't lower than the MSRP right now, but that price is just way too high. You can get it at or just above MSRP at a lot of places if you look on pricewatch or froogle.

Overrated? No. Setting prices that high because idiots will pay? Yes. Do I blame them? No. Would I do the same thing? Abso-fvcking-lutely.

Newegg is the bomb, yo...

Sure you could do that and then you could wake up the next day to find that your ram will no longer OC to 420, but now is stuck at 390... has happened to quite a number of people on various threads.

@woodscomp
Price not only classifies something as a hot deal; availability can also classify it which is why this deal is in this thread.

Never had a problem with the RAM speed things you talking about.

Yes, I believe that Newegg is overrated. Sure they offer very good quality products, no one can deny that. But I hate it because a lot of people recommend them for there prices, and I have repeatedly found lower prices elsewhere, non auction based.

It's simple supply and demand, folks. If they set the price to $499 they wouldn't be able to keep up with the demand. If, from their research, they find that enough people will still pay $589.00 for them then there's no reason why they shouldn't charge that much.

Get burned by enough other low priced resellers and you will understand why we like newegg. I would prefer to pay the few extra $ that newegg ussually charges than deal with the BS

Also, this is a luxury item. no one NEEDS this item, so I dont care about how high they set the price. When plaves gauge on necessity like food, that is wrong imho.. but no one needs a 6800 ultra :p

Newegg does charge tax for three states and Tennessee is one of them. And at 9% or thereabouts depending on your location, it is cheaper to buy at zipzoomfly or mwave that does not charge tax!!

Well you go take these overpriced PC products off my hands. I ain't been burned by any retailer to date. And with 30+ hadware purchases I see no reason why I should switch. I've even bought refurbed stuff off of www.dumpinggoods.com and they all worked fine. Only things that ain't worked for me are ones that I bought that way. I would definantly understand what you mean if I had been burned multiple times. But I also know that there are some other very reliable places that sell them less. At least for what I'm looking for.

As I am buying one now with bankofamerica platinum check card.I will have 60 days to use there price protection guarentee and this allows me to get a refund of up to $250 when and if I see the same product for a advertised lower price I will be credited the difrence of up to said $250.
Now I will have 60 days to pick my lower advertised price,so I will see were I stand in in 60 days.Bankofamerica has a sweet no questions asked policy if you show them the ad they will shoot you the diffrence straigt as a credit to your account.
My thoughts by October there should be some decline in price somewere and that has yet to be defined!

That's a sweet policy cherry. Too bad I ain't old enough for stuff like dat yet. Not too far off though. Though, I abhore CCs. Seeing as how most people are in debt because of sh*t like that. Buy now pay later, who said that's a good idea. Now for certain things you got no choice like a house and car, unless you rich. Only reason I'd use a CC is for emergencies. Not my place to tell people what to do though, banks and sh*t make money off of stuff like that.
