I can find the eVGA 6800 GT online for about $400 give or take a couple bucks. I continue to look at multiple benchmarks and see that the BFG 6800 GT peforms better at stock settings but I think that I could solve this easily by overclocking the eVGA a little. I have heard the the new cooling solution on the BFG does not cool the card as well as the original nvidia cooler which makes me think eVGA would be a better choice. A question for eVGA 6800 GT owners, do you feel that your card is too noisy and do you ever get worried that your card might be running a little too warm? I am on a tight schedule as I cannot order anything to my school address and I feel that prices are not going to dip for at least a couple months.

The card tops out around 72C for me during gaming. However my card doesnt seem to be an overclocking champ. I had it running at 400/1100. But when I ran the detect freq utility it keeps spitting back 380/1070. So I set it at 370/1050. I cant tell you for sure it wont run at a higher setting but honestly I dont feel like risking it frying out. And even at stock speeds the thing runs everything silky smooth(1600X1200 maxed sliders) in any demanding games I currently own(BF:V, Farcry)

So until I run across a game that demands it Ill probably just keep it at stock.

The thing isnt very loud at all imo. I got mine right from evgas website for 399+16 for 3 day shipping.

I've been running the BFG 6800 GT OC for about 1 1/2 weeks now and haven't seen any temperature problems. I live in Phoenix AZ. where my room temp. is 81 degrees in the summertime and mine idles around 62 to 64 and gets up to about 75 to 77 during gaming. I also saw a post earlier about the new heatsink not cooling as good but I doubt if that person who posted thaat actually even owns the card. Besides the BFG carries a true Lifetime Warranty and comes OC'd a little right out of the box. One would have to have put the older BFG with the reference cooler in and test that one and then try the newer BFG 6800 GT with their new custom cooler to actually see if there is any difference.

The 6800 GT is a near perfect card IMO. I run doom 3 @ full spec no prob. The CS source BEATA gets 80-90 fps on 1280 6x AF 4x AA. I have a PNY oced to 420/1150 and I don't get temps above 60C after 2 hours of gaming. It is complimented perfectly by the A64 3200. My friend runs his with a 2800 and get comparable performance. Get a GT. If not that the get the 6800NU and soft mod it. The MSI ones work best for that. Nvidia wins this round, Fu@k ATI.

I think it is one of the smartest card buying decisions I have ever made. Yeah, I paid $400, but I see this card holding me over for a while. It is quiet in my opinion but I have not overclocked it yet so I can't tell you about temps.
