eVGA 6800 GT heat problems

I've had an eVGA 6800 GT for about a year now when I built my computer (last year).

I just reformatted my hard drive today (literally) when overclocking went bad with my processor lol.

Anyways, I install the latest drivers from nvidia.com.....and my idling temperatures on the core are now in the 70's C.

The ambients are still below 40 C though....

I find this odd because I was always idling around 52 C before, and now I'm pushing what I do when I'm gaming for 6-8 hours just idling.

Could anybody give me insight on my problem....I don't have any issues taking it out and taking off the heatsink/'fan on it.....well....I sorta do. There are a few screws I can't get out with a standard screwdriver. If anybody has any experience with with these video cards please help me.

There it goes, wow haha

idling at 51 C again,
thanks man...

Yeah, I just ordered my Alienware 7700......

3.4ghz P4
1 gig PC4200 RAM
Nvidia 6800 Ultra Mobile

This thing is gonna catch on fire the time i'm on a computer in a day....

oh well, i worked my ass off for it -_-
