eVGA 6600GT idle temps are 59°

I just installed the card in my general use PC. Using rivatuner it says my temps are 59°c.

I haven't installed any games since this isn't my game machine but I may try and run 3DMark to see how hot the card gets.

Isn't this a high temp for an idle card?

BTW, my system temp is 35°.

I don't have a 6600GT myself, but my 6800GT idles around 60C. In general I think the 6-series runs pretty damn hot...as long as you don't get any crashing/artifacting in games, and your load temps are "reasonable" (say, not above 90C or so), you should be fine IMO.

I need to check my load temps some more but they didn't seem to get that high. It's really just the idle temp. It's going to be really bad when the weather warms up.

I have to turn on my game PC and see what my 6800GT idles at. I thought it was pretty low but it could be around 57°.

What are you running for case fans? I recently added an X1600XT to a case with no exhaust fans... just a dual-fan Enermax PSU. Case temps were noticably warmer with the card installed and the CPU would increase in RPM's quite a bit to keep the CPU cool. Adding a single 120mm exhaust fan brought things back to normal...
