This might sound a bit silly, but why this card is priced at around $550? And that's not from a retail store like Compusa, but wholesale stores like Newegg. If I remember correctly the board's retail price will be $499, and I hear that the card (eVGA) is nearly identical to nVidia's reference board. Am I missing something? Please enlighten me.

PS. Also, has anyone used the nVidia's NVDVD? How does it perform compared to PowerDVD, WinDVD, etc?
PS2. I notice same question goes for ATI's 9800PRO 256MB. I thought they'd be 499, but why are they all $550??

You can get the 9800 Pro 256MB from ATI for $499. Demand like popular cars the dealers jack up the price above suggested retail.

Go to pricewatch.com and you can find the retail box for 479. Compusa has it for 499 also. I am waiting to see what the different retail packages have in terms of software then I am gona buy. I am leaning towards the PNY Verto considering I have a GF3 Ti500 Verto and love it. The PNY has VIVO also like the eVGA, not sure about clock comparison though. Confimred that the comes with NVDVD 2.0 and Ghost Recon. Sadly, I own both already. I grant, that it is nice that the eVGA is clocked to 500/900, but I would like different software....so I still might have to get the PNY.

Did you try looking for reviews? Both GamePC and FiringSquad have one on this card. It's clocked 50MHz faster in both core and memory than stock 5900U's, and it has VIVO. $550 is probably its MSRP.
