Hi fellas, first time poster but long time lurker. Right now I have the option of getting one of the two cards for those prices, which would you say is the better value? I was almost determined to get the 7850 because it runs cool and OCs well, but I'm tempted to grab the $220 560 ti 448 core deal.

Edit: Forgot to mention 448 core is originally $250 but with $30 mail-in rebate

At a $30 diff I would lean towards the 7850 provided you are indifferent to either company.

The 7850 is better overall but you should be able to find one for $240 or so if you can find a discount. I know the Asus one was going for that the other day.

Seems like a lot of 7850 fans here.

Are we talking $240 for new? I'm already having enough trouble finding places that have it in stock and will sell it at MSRP.

Well, it's only $20-30 difference, and for that you get:

- less power consumption, heat, and noise
- more vram
- more overclocking headroom
- you won't have to deal with a MIR :D

$250 for the Asus 7850 is reasonable IMO.

Of those two options I'd only go with the 448 if you plan to go dual gpu in the future.

40nm is best served used tbh.

Power consumption definitely makes me lean towards the HD 7850. You should get the HD 7850 or wait for a comparable card to come out from Nvidia. Personally, I am waiting for the GTX 680 to drop below $350 which I know will take quite some time.

Unlikely to happen this year

November is pretty unlikely (possible nevertheless, but relatively unlikely) . Mid 2013 is pretty certain for similar performance at similar price :)

It's possible, considering the 680 started life as a $250 card.

The worst part about buying a 7850 is you know AMD is price gouging something awful.

WAIT. You reckon the 680 is really a $250 card... then you say AMD is price gouging on 7850..

So whats a card with 50% OC headroom to get gtx580 OC performance and comes with 2gb vram worth?

Aha, clever there... looks like Don Karnage single-handedly increased the number of 7850 fans by three, he is a 7850 fan with 7850 fans... F A N C E P T I O N

As for the OP, how long can you wait before buying? NVidia is bound to be accumulating some slightly-less-than-perfect 680 chips that have to go somewhere, perhaps a 670 or 660 or something, to put some pressure on the 7850 prices or perhaps offer an even better bang for buck (depending on pricing)?

Only thing that sucks about Kepler is that nvidia has effectively killed overclocking on it.
