I get this error message (Windows Vista Ultimate).. it just started happening all of a sudden, its about a 500 gig partition out of a 750gb seagate drive.. I don't know why it happens, as I can access all of the files thru Windows Media Player, or by opening the program which corresponds to whatever file type i'm opening and using File-->Open-->e:\whateverfolder\whateverfile.*** and no problems if I do it that way. the hdd is relatively new (2-3 months or so). its under warranty and I'm working on backing up all my data using ERD Commander 2003
