Everytime I shut down WinME I get a windows protection error...anyone know what gives??

As the title says, I need help in figuring out why this is happening. It only happens when I do a shutdown. I do not get the window protection error when I "restart" the computer..
 
I get that error also with WinME. I also have this problem: Sometimes when I tell WinME to shut down (if I dont get a windows protection error: System Halted message) It restarts the PC, doesnt shut it down. My Win2k on the same PC works fine.
 
During the Beta for Milly we saw this with Athlons quite a bit. Generally speaking the problem seemed to be in the system bios. Check the following:

Are the Via Drivers and updates loaded?

In the Device Manager is a CPU to AGP bus showing?
In Device Manager is it showing ACPI BIOS/ ACPI Power button?

If these aren't there then there are 2 possibilities- 1. Your BIOS when you installed was not compliant with the standard that MS used. 2. The VIA drivers that you have loaded are not up to date..

The only way that we found to solve #1 was to reinstall and #2 is to update the drivers
