Everytime I open Chrome it tells me I need to update

yeah I checked task manager didn't see anything out of the ordinary

going to just keep on eye on things in the meantime

nah , probably just another goggle i know what are u doing and i selling information to customers trick. I use firefox, i had enough of google we know all about u stunts...

try to block with firewall everything exept chrome.exe. And see what happens.

It's not (that) hard to have a process which is running and make it not show up in task manager.

What does the "About Google Chrome" page say? That you're up to date (what version does it give)? Plugins/Extension (do you have any installed)? The first thing you may want to try is with a clean profile. I believe you may be able to create another profile under settings (add person?) although I've never used it so I'm unsure if that will do that.
