Everything on Hwy 80 b/w Chicago and Colorado is EXACTLY the same

I'm on my road trip from Chicago to LA right now, and I spent two days getting to denver, and all I can say is if you were to take out any 10 mile stretch of highway between the two points and compared them, there would be nothing different between the two.

It got me feeling bad for the people who grow up in Iowa and never leave the state.

What are you talking about. The section through Des Moines looks nothing like the section through Omaha. 😛

It's only 1000 miles to Denver. Why did that take 2 days? 😕

1000 miles divided by 70mph = 14 hours

If you can't drive that straight through with a good previous night's rest, you're a wuss. 😉

I must have a lead foot. I average 75 mph from Chicago to Rapid City, including stops for gas and lunch. 900 miles, 12 hours to get there. 😉

i have a 2 week road trip, of which i am halfway done, so i decided to start of easy at first. So I only did like 9 hour days.

But last night I did 14 hours getting to seattle. 😉

The whole middle of the country is like that. I-40 and I-70 are the same way. I think the people that brag about thier house they bought in Kansas for $20,000 have never seen a mountain or the ocean.

No, we've seen them. But we'd rather live where there's low crime, clean air, rush hour isn't 24 hours a day, and you don't have to be a millionare to live in something bigger than a cardboard box. California is a nice place to visit with all the scenery, but you couldn't pay me enough to live there.

You can't pay me enough to leave California.

Ehh, to each his own.

I wasn't speaking specifically of California, there are houses for sale in Washington, Oregon, Colorado, and the entire eastern seaboard. Pretty much all of which have nicer scenery than Kansas, and many of which have all of the qualities you listed. Hell, there are actually plenty of places like that in California, too, the only qualification they lack form your list is "cheap".
