Everything in italic, help

I don't know what's wrong, but all the fonts are in italic, this happened all of sudden. I have Dell 1800FP, what could of caused this? Any resolution or a familiar problem?

Please help me correct this, font on my XP is in italic. I made no adjustments or settings. I just booted up my PC and saw all the fonts like this. Please help.
 
i had that problem...ended up reformatting as no one could offer a solution. Sorry bud...start your backup.

What caused it?

Well, it occured after i installed then uninstalled sim city 3000 on my comp. That was the only system change at the time that could have caused it. I could not track it down nor could it be changed. It seemed as though the OS thought that italics was part of the normal font. It didnt display the text any differently when italics was turned on, and when I looked at the windows file that everything referred to, it seemed fine. But it never changed. I had no idea how to fix it save a format, which is what I ended up doing.
