Haha exactly what I was thinking. Drop back a third of the football field, wait 6+ seconds, unload!

lol ..

sometimes when you play a human player, that drop doesn't work cause the back can move just as fast.

Gotta mix up the run with the slant.

Me too, but I wouldn't throw hail mary's.

In fact, I'm impossible to beat at that game. And if you think I'm lying...well...here's the deal:

In most games, the "limiting" factor in the game is how fast you move the joystick/keyboard etc. For example, in Doom, if you react quicker and fire more accurately, you win. The problem with Tecmo is that it's so old, the players are so slow, and you can't switch them, so the limiting factor becomes the game itself.

There is a play (PRO T FLARE D) that is simply impossible to guard against if you're the Oilers. Even a picked play helps, if you're quick enough to switch to the slot reciever (he's unguarded on a picked play). Otherwise, one of the recievers will be open. The only way to stop the play is if you're the Giants, and you select Taylor. He's fast enough, if you know what you're doing, that he can sometimes cover the three recievers who are relatively close together. Even then, it's tough to do over and over again.

I can just pick that play over and over and over again and the game just becomes a clock game. Even if I don't stop the other team (which I do often) if I run the clock enough to make sure I have the ball last, I win.

Of course, I don't do that. I spice things up a bit with runs and other passes (and to the person who commented on the Oilers having no running game: I stick drew hill in the backfield, which works out great for those pass plays to the RBs)

And yes, I'm psycho. I played this game fer days last year.

Ya, you play another person, things tend to get a little harder. I ususally use 3 plays when playing a person, as well as switch up players and put the fast recievers in short routes. Seemed to work for me most of the time :)

Man, I loved that game. Remember L.T.? if you picked the Giants you could use him to block just about every field goal/extra point attempt.

Why doesn't Tecmo redo it? I had Super Tecmo bowl for my Super Nintendo and my buddy had Madden, I always liked Tecmo better. It wasn't very realistic but man was it fun!!

I loved Tecmo Bowl, but I learned everything I know about football from getting my ass kicked by my dad in the first Madden game for SNES.
