lately everything i have downloaded has been corupt

google video's, programs, videos from places like fileshack, game demo's, zip files...the lot, lots of CRC errors etc

though some things like streaming videos in WMP work fine, music from itunes appears to download fine, and some bit-torrents are also fine like for instance the top gear i just downloaded.

but things like, real alternative, bridge it demo, video from a friends FTP are all corrupt. google video files either half download, or fully download but then stop at the corrupted point. it takes numerous attempts to download videos with google video

this has all happened after buying a new router (netgear DG834) but i dont think its the routers problem, this things worked beautifully since day one and my house mates have reported zero download problems to me (yes im the IT/Computer guy of the house)

im starting to think my windows install is dropping to pieces infront of me.

My guess is hardware failure. Could be RAM or your hard drive, maybe even the motherboard or power supply. Time to run some diagnostics. My first recommendation is to back things up.

Are you using the nVidia Firewall? Did you just start using it? Either way, if you are using it, try disabling it. There have been lots of people with problems like this when they use the nVidia firewall. Give that a shot.

worth running mem test?

backing off the overclock? i have 4x512 set up, running 208mhz 2.5-4-4-8 2T and a divider of 166 so the FSB is 250. HTT still runs 1000

its been stable since day one, games crashed once or twice due to overheat....nothing since. ill start backing up!

you are absolutlely correct.....switched it off, windows bitched for a while, tried downloading real alternative, installed without issue.

i guess thats whats slowly degrading everytime windows loads.....i like having it on, for peace of mind, but i guess ill just disable it temporarily while i download something, then turn it back on.......browsing with it on is just fine.
