Everything a w520 has but in a 14in model...?

I like the w520 but I want a 14in model, basically something a little lighter with 2gb of video memory, any thoughts?

dell xps 14z? 13inch laptop body with 14 inch screen, I think only dual cores though and only gt525m (2gb on gt540m is wasted anyway).

Only thing is the display is the normal crap quality 720p ones you get with every other budget laptop... and you can't upgrade.

the 2gb of video memory isn't really necessary (and is "wasted") as rabbitz stated
even pushing 1080p modern games are just starting to hit 1 gb, and you'd need a gpu faster than the 6870 desktop to begin being memory limited (that's why we're seeing the 6950 2gb, 560 TI 448 ~1.25gb)

you might want to look at the hp envy 14 as well (the nvidia 525 in the dell is significantly slower than the 540)

the alienware m14x might be what you're looking for too (although it's half a pound heavier to accomodate the higher-end gpu)

there's currently a free $100 Alienware GC and the gt 555 1.5gb (don't waste money going with the 3gb it's pointless) is faster than the 540

i don't know if you'll be able to find any other notebook with the build quality of a thinkpad (other than a thinkpad*) though
*macbook pros maybe, but there's no 14" (and the 13.3 uses intel IGP) and there are still some open-gl driver issues for gaming image quality to work out i think

for gaming, the nvidia 540 is pretty similar to the ati 56xx/66xx series
