If you have a credit card pull it out of your pocket and call the customer service number written on the back. Tell them that you've received some credit card offers lately and you're wondering if they can change your credit limit or alter your APR to make their card more appealing. I called all 3 banks I have cards with. One wouldn't drop my $6 a month fee since I"ve had the card just three months so I closed that account. Nextcard increased my credit limit. Citibank dropped my APR NINE percent....thats quite a drop :) Even if you don't carry a balance or need a bigger limit it gives you satisfaction to make the mean credit card companies work for you. Well it does me at least ;) :D

Yes. I recently caled my credit card company and told them I was going to transfer my balance to a lower rate card. They said they would lover it 3%. I am now at 8.99%. I have found that to work everytime I call...:D

Yep I posted about this in the last credit card thread. Credit card companies want to keep your business (especially people who keep a balance on their card) and will bend over backwards a certain amount to keep you.

Nobody with decent credit should be paying anything higher than 12-13% APR. If your current company won't go there, find one that will.

Edit: if your credit rating is better than decent you can go lower than 10%!

Yup I've got the one from citibank at 9%!!! It was at 18%! I buy all the computer parts I sell on my citibank card so maybe thats why they were so willing to deal. Nextcard wasn't as useful but I don't use that one too often. Capital One just offered a lower interest rate but when you dont carry a balance that doesnt matter, they wouldnt drop the month fee so I closed it :)

Citibank cards kick butt!!! I dropped NextCard... Get a Sony Citibank card or the Dividend Citibank card. There's also one with price protection like the Blue card from American Express I think...

Why does anyone EVER use a credit card that requires a monthly/annual fee? There are dozens of other cards out there that don't require a fee...it just doesn't make sense to me...

ANyway, try getting the buy.com visa card...if you buy from them (I do a lot) you get 5% credit back on buy.com purchases and 1% off any other purchase...very nice if you ask me (highest anywhere)...

i never get a credit card that i have to pay for.

annual fee or even a processing fee.

anyway, yeah these work. but don't try it right away. but the longer you have had the card, and have shown you are good with the card, the lower these rates can go =)

i thought everyone knew this...

anyway... ;-)

Lol the only reason I had the monthly fee was because I missed that part mentioning it in the application, thats also why I closed the account :)
