Everyone take a deep breath

Roberts put on his black robe.
"Are you ready to take the oath?" he said.

"Yes, I am," Obama said. "And we're going to do it very slowly."

Roberts then led Obama through the oath without any missteps.

Biden said something funny but not the best idea when you are a sitting VP, even Obama looked uncomfortable and tried to tap his arm to stop him.

Haha, yeah, probably not the best idea..

he chose Biden, of all people, it cant possibly be unexpected. Obama should get a shock collar to strap to the VPs leg and keep a remote handy.

Surprised there were no comments about how he didn't swear on a bible on the second reading. Or accusations of some sort of diabolically invisible Koran? Anything?

EDIT: I guess the opportunity to reference Bloodninja kind of overshadowed everything else.

They took a pic too. I don't blame either Obama or Roberts, here is what I think happened.

Obama has obviously rehearsed this moment a million times in his head. Typically, the oath-giver pauses after the oath-taker's name to have them repeat, Obama was expecting this.

Roberts and Obama were nervous and Roberts combined the name part and the solemnly swear part but Obama just started saying what he had rehearsed while Roberts was in mid sentence. Roberts got even more nervous and screwed up the faithfully part.

Based on the look Obama gave him, I think Biden's going to be spending some quality time in Cheney's bunker.

I have noticed Biden has been very clingy since taking office, look at every event picture with obama, biden is right next to him. Wonder if things are gonna start souring between them soon. Either that or Obama is gonna dump a ton of busy work on him (IE, go visit the south african embassy)

Actually I just quickly youtubed a few other presidential oaths and the oath-giver does not pause after the name. So I think Roberts may have gotten flustered after Obama interrupted him and messed up the next line...

It never could be a constitutional crisis because it is not in the Constitution that one must recite any specific words. Or was it added post-haste?

Well, you have to keep in mind that after Dick Cheney, the role of the VP is somewhat up for debate. Biden doesn't want to be a dick like...well....Cheney, but he does have to strike the proper balance to serve the administration. I'm guessing that is the "look at me!" stage as opposed to the two extremes of being Darth Vader and hanging around at funerals. Remember, Biden probably still has POTUS ambition in him, so he wants to keep a spot on the national stage...

OMG that made me cringe. Not a bad idea, you should pass it along to Obama.
