I wonder if the NPR reporters talk that way in real life... I can't tell if they really think that they are smarter than everyone else so they think they have to talk that slow so all the dumb people can understand them or if they need to take some malox to relieve their constipation...

I have to admit, that I did not expect this criticism of NPR...

I find nothing odd about their speaking speed. Their interviewees tend to speak at the same speed as the hosts, with the exception of the "bee lady" they have on sometimes who sounds like she constantly chugs coffee.

I've seen a lot of coverage on CNN, but in general they aren't allowing reporters so it's hard to get any access. If you don't have live footage of riots, it's hard to report on it.

We listen to various radio programs in our carpool so it is very easy for us to notice the difference between NPR and all of the other news stations we listen to. The reporters at NPR all sound like they are trying to hard to mimic an English accent or something....kinda like a really really bad Hugh Grant impersonation...NONE of the other radio station news reporters we hear sound like the NPR reporters.

Maybe you guys need to check out different news outlets. I've heard plenty about it. (Not among trendy retards though, but who cares?)
You meant AL-jazeera, they showed everything, there are a couple satellites with free news channels.

I guess the Bahrain goverment will be much more careful treating its citizens with the threat of tomahawks and airplanes against the oppresors :)

only if the Libyan conflict and Japan's nuclear disaster ends soon

then it's up to the media whether what is happening in Bahrain is important enough to have media blitz coverage

Yemen president dumped the whole government cabinet because of the way the situation has been handled (not discretely).

Even the President's own tribe is calling for him to step down.

Yet, because he is "friends" with Obama, not a peep out of the White House on that country's situation.

Does this mean that rulers that are "friends" will nto get critized and they are safe from UN type actions?

Obama's just going along with the local customs, you know, "My enemy's enemy is my friend" and that sort of thing. As long as the dude supports the US and maintains control what's there to complain about? If he can't do his job we'll find the next enemy of our enemies to support.

We're all whitey (Christians) and its not like they're ever gonna love us anyway. At best we'll always be the friend nobody wants to invite to parties or admit having (boo hoo).
